Representation is extremely important when it comes to media because it helps others to see themselves in tv shows and within characters, personalities, and settings. This helps viewers to connect and relate to what’s being shown, and to show them a familiarity of people or situations.

I believe whoever created the representation presented in this movie is another black person who has a deep understanding of the rich history and culture behind black people and African civilization. True Beauty
How accurate are these representations?
True Beauty is a fairly fictional and dramatized representation of the life of high school girls, but it does so in a way that makes it funny and relatable. This show is about the high school life of student Jugyeong Lim, and her hectic life. She deals with things such as low self esteem, bullying, and struggling with how people perceive her, and how she perceives others.
Who do you think is creating the representation?
I think whoever created this representation is probably also a girl or young woman who created a plot based off of a dramatized representation of high school girls and their life in and out of school. Someone who is familiar with high school life as a teen girl and the dramas of social perception vs. the real you.

3. The author of the original webtoon that the drama is based on, Yaongyi, is similar to me. We are both young women with a passion for art. I relate to her story and characters because I am a high school girl too, and though the show is a dramatized version of high school and a teen girl’s perspective, I still found the show very enjoyable and I liked seeing how the characters interacted with each other.
Sister, Sister
How accurate are these representations?
Sister, Sister is a humorous representation of black girls and families. The main characters, Tia and Tamera, are identical twins who go through high school, trying to navigate their way together through life and make light of their situations along the way, reunited again after being separated at birth.
Who do you think is creating the representation?
I think that whoever created the show is probably a black person who wanted to create a sense of humor in their story about black girls who were separated twin sisters. This was a funny and lighthearted way to provide representation for black girls and for them to be able to see themselves in the media in a comedic way.

The creator of Sister, Sister is Kim Bass, a man who is black like me. His show created a way for black girls to see themselves within his characters on television and in media in a positive and funny way.
